Hints for querying the above Digitalarkivet databases: You must type the names exactly
as they are written in the database, generally with the first letter capitalized, and the rest of the
letters as lower case. Some names may be spelled in different ways - for example, Nesset and Næsset - and all possible
spellings should be queried. It is generally a good idea to use 'contains' (inneheld) instead of 'equal to' (er lik) when querying a last name
because many people are listed with the double last name - the patronymic and the surname. For example Edvard Nesset is listed in the
emigration database with Last Name='Kristins. Nesset'. Last name contains Nesset would find it, but
Last name equals Nesset would not. Here are some of the special Norwegian characters for you to copy and paste into
